We just skyped Mrs. Obach’s Grade 1 class to talk about a very exciting event that is happening in the world. We watched this video together to get us thinking about the Olympics. Then we brainstormed a list of questions, ideas, and places to get information. We divided up the questions to make it easier. These are our questions that we are investigating.
Our Questions:
Where are the Olympics being held?
When are the Olympics?
What are the Olympics?
-they started in Greece nearly 3000 years ago. Just boys were able to be in the Olympics and watch the Olympics. The Olympics came to an end in Greece when another country took it over.
-there are summer and winter Olympics. Athletes do sports such as hockey, figure skating, skiing, and races. Many countries from around the world are in the Olympics. They are held every 4 years.
Our Plan to Find Out:
-we could put up posters asking for information
-we could ask people we know like our moms, dad, grandmas, grandpas, aunties, uncles. We decided to make a form to use for asking other people for information. We are taking this form home in our clipboards tonight and asking people to help us.
-look it up on the internet
-get books from Miss Johnas in the library. We visited the library and found books about the Olympics and Olympic sports.
