Hopping to Help! Our Latest Kindergarten Project

It all started when one of our students brought in a frog for show and tell. We became very very interested in frogs. Mrs. Caldwell said that we could spend a couple of hours researching frogs and learning more about them. We watched a Brain Pop video on frogs and a Discovery Education video. We read frog books. We visited Earth Rangers and learned that the Oregon spotted frog is endangered. We decided that we wanted to help frogs.

We decided to have a lemonade stand and sell drinks and snacks. We made a survey on Survey Monkey to find out what people like to eat and drink, as well as how much money they would be willing to pay. We put the survey on our classroom Facebook page and Twitter. So far, 51 people have answered our survey so far. The most popular drink is iced tea, the most popular snack is cookies, and people are willing to pay $1.50 for a drink and snack.

Three students brought tadpoles for us to study today. We decided we needed to make a to do list to plan our project.

We are checking off the items as we get them done. Our next task is to find out how to care for tadpoles and what they eat.
