We began our day with a skype call to Mrs. Fenn’s Grade 1 class in Avon, Connecticut, at Roaring Brook Elementary School. We connected using Skype in the Classroom.
They taught us about the life cycle of frogs, amphibians, tadpoles, toads, and how to care for tadpoles. They did a great job! We told them about American bull frogs (they eat other frogs and take over their homes) and Oregon spotted frogs. We told them about our plans to raise money (an iced tea and cookie sale). Next we skyped Mrs. Obach’s Grade 1 class. We asked them to share their chocolate chip cookie recipe and told them about our special project.
We learned how to read recipes this morning for Oreo cookies, homemade iced tea, and chocolate chip cookies. We made grocery lists of ingredients and we will go shopping later today. We followed the recipe and made a batch of homemade iced tea. Then we made a graph predicting how many glasses we would get from one batch of iced tea. The iced tea is cooling in the fridge and we will try it later!
