Community Spotlight: Meet Hanna

Hanna Tolton is a pre-service teacher in the Faculty of Education at the University of Saskatchewan. She’s also from our hometown, making her a fellow Kenton girl. Hanna is a member of our book club who implemented some great ideas in the classroom while reading Social LEADia with us!

In her student-teaching placement, Hanna is working with Grade 5 and 6 students. They were learning about safe drinking water and discovered that many Indigenous communities in their area are under boil water advisories. Hanna supported her learners in sharing their voices by creating a classroom Twitter account where their ideas on the topic could be posted to reach a wider audience. We love how Hanna incorporated the ideas about digital leadership from our book club study into her teaching practicum!

Check out their Tweets and be sure to follow @MissTolton on Twitter to see what Hanna shares with the next group of students she gets to work with!
